         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>1] How might the farmer shown in source 1 impact on the quality of fresh water?</strong></p><ul><li><p>The farmer is spraying his rice crops to keep pests away from the food source, but this drains into Laguna Bay, which is home to one of the world's most polluted lakes.</p></li><li><p>It has been destroyed because of <strong>urban, industrial, and agricultural wastes. </strong></p></li><li><p>It is also home to a large freshwater fishing industry.</p></li><li><p><br/></p></li></ul><p><strong>2] How can fertilisers that are used on a farm eventually reach and kill fish?</strong></p><ul><li><p>The fertiliser that the farmer sprays on their crops can drain into the nearest river or lake. </p></li><li><p>Fertiliser is made out of nitrogen, phosphorus and animal manure. </p></li><li><p>While it is good for farming, it can cause algae to grow rapidly which causes no oxygen to go into the water, as well as cause 'dead zones' in the water.</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>3] Examine Sources 2 &amp; 3</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>A:</strong></p><p>12,000 square metres</p><p><strong>B:</strong></p><p>The water underground could be limited, as rainwater gets into the soil, and with more buildings, its gonna be covering the soil.</p><p><strong>C:</strong></p><p>Underground water is limited, and it could become more expensive to extract ground water.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>1) Describe the link between poverty and deforestation in your own words.</strong></p><ul><li><p>The link between poverty and deforestation is that people who live under the poverty line are becoming small-scale slash-and-burn farmers since the trees are put on fire or cut down.</p></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>2) Is the scene in Source 3 a natural or human environment?</strong></p><ul><li><p>In source 3, the scene is a human environment because humans planted crops in the picture.</p></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>3) Carefully examine Source 1</strong></p><p><strong>a) List the changes that you can see in the soil, vegetation, and water that have taken place in this environment.</strong></p><ul><li><p>What I can see in Source 1 is that the soil is either damp or burnt, there is not much of a variety of vegetation, just trees or bushes, and I do not see any water in the picture.</p></li></ul><p><strong>b) Add changes that have likely occurred that you cannot see</strong></p><ul><li><p>I think the changes there were that there was a bushfire and rainfall</p></li></ul><p><strong>c) why did this farmer make these changes to the landscape?</strong></p><ul><li><p>The farmer made those changes to the landscape because it can help the plants/trees to grow faster to restore the forest</p></li></ul>]]></description>
