The dust on Mars is like talcum powder, Beneath the dust the surface is mostly volcanic basalt rock. The soil on Mars holds lots of nutrients such as sodium, potassium, chloride, and magnesium. Mars also has a lot of flood and river channels. Some say that Mars used to have lots of water when Mars was warm and had a thicker atmosphere.
