She was the first wife of prophet Muhammad (PBUH). She came from a noble family and inherited their trade.They married when the prophet was 25 and she was 40, 15 years before the Quran was revealed to the prophet. They had six children -  al-Qāsim, ‘Abdullāh, Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthūm, and Fāŧimah, may God be pleased with them all. She was one of the first Muslims and supported the prophet when the Quran was revealed to him.

She was separated from Abu Salamah and her son while migrating to Madinah Al Munawarah. Abu Salamah fought in the battle of Badr, he was wounded in the Battle of Uhud and passed away. After Umm Salamah's Iddah was over, the Prophet (SAW) approached her, she had three reservations about marriage, that she was old, she had a family and that she got jealous, the prophet replied saying he would pray for her jealousy to go away, regarding age, he said he was afflicted by the same problem and about her family, he said her family was his family. She agreed and they got married, she then became the mother of believers. She is believed to be one of the most influential wives of the prophet and is known for recalling Hadiths and stories about him.
