In the song that I chose, there's such vibrant, colorful notes that are repeated and played throughout the song that balances out the extremity of the different beats. I have a bunch of symbols on this piece that represents a lot of sounds or the meaning behind the song. First off, the song, called Marble Soda, gives me the main portion in the piece being the marble soda that spills the drink. In the beginning of the song and the middle of the song, you hear a car honking, which is why I added the jumbles of cars on top of each other in the top right corner. There's also high-pitched voices you hear in the background that's sort of fading into the song, which is symbolized as the couple of lips in the bottom middle of the piece. Also, the song, being vibrant and having a lot of beats, I added a launchpad in the bottom right corner and giving the colorful lights around some of the circles to represent a light show. Also, there's drum beats that seem soft to me, which is what I wanted to represent inside the soda- each little splash is to represent each drum that plays into the song, and just the splash of color compared to the dark background. I added the background being all black and having those little symbols that create the word SODA in different shapes and sizes. I wanted to play with perspective for once since as an animator, there a bunch of perspectives I need to understand of the human and what seems right or wrong. Being my first perspective-painting, it does look alright to me. I used sort of a narrative, interior space combination as the subject. I have some gaming posters in the back, a fan up and a door on the right with some junk food in the front of the viewer's eyes. The narrative would be this couple that are hanging out together on the couch, as the girl leans on the guy and he's playing video games on the TV with his controller. The media I've used was acrylic paint, to see if I could get some detail into a painting. The technique I used for this piece is layers. I wanted to see with paint if I could do simple colors on the bottom and add shading and details after. But, I learned it's better to add the effect in the process of painting the color rather than after it dries. For the first stage, I played around with colors that can be seen behind the boarded up windows/door. I wanted to represent that as hiding creativity in this project. I added different colors together, sometimes new colors when it didn't look good. I added a little transition of light then can be seen on the right with the combination of orange and blue and other colors to make it seem like a sunrise to moonlight. On the second stage, I added the boarded up look since I was making this project seem like a murder scene. I always used transparent paper over these little photos I glued on the project (only way to see them is ripping off the paper. I used water on the tissue paper with a bit of red color to give it that bloody look which I feel looks very weird because it really looks like a murder and it's pretty scary. On the third stage, I wanted to give the effect of a murder scene and the murderer would leave only their initials around as a clue. I left my initials, LP, and the L looking like a knife is at the end and the P looks like a rope as in if those were the murder weapons used. Also back at the second stage, I added little pieces of paper to make it look like the roof was molding. Overall, I really like the ground in all honesty. The combination of colors to give different shades of brown making the floors look dirty and you can see blood footprints. It's the most simple part compared to the monstrosity surrounding this project.
