By: Ms. Athina Jamin

This will be about a certain area living in poverty. The village of Malambwe. First question asks, "What could be the cause for the poverty issue in the village of malambwe?" From what I've read in the story, the village of malambwe was struck by a cyclone named Idai, thus making the village go in poverty, losing almost everything they have in their household, for their work, etc. What other people have believed is that: Changing trends in a country's economy; Inadequate access to clean water. For the 2nd question, "What works in reducing the negative impact of growing up in poverty on a child's life chances?" From what I've thought of, by having Donators to help a bit with the poverty the child is feeling. It doesn't have to be a lot of people, at least people that can support a child's life but not throughout their life. And from what the people say: Increase household income; People sponsoring a child. For the third question, "What will happen with the unemployed town's folk?" For what I have thought here, they will need to work somewhere else than in their area which is having a poverty issue. For what people believed: The higher poverty associated with larger families; Making them more susceptible to disease and less likely to work full or part-time. For the fourth, "Will they have a chance to live or will they ever get to have enough things to live with?" What I think is that, of course. Just a few fixes in their economy then they'll be okay. For what people believed: Poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the action of human beings; We will have to continue to support the poorest people. For the final question, "What could people do in their daily lives to not get any diseases while still in poverty?" The assumption I made for this one is that, to afford whatever drugs they can buy that could save them. What people believed: Whether poor nations can obtain affordable drugs of good quality; Reduce child mortality.

[Source: google.com, bevanfoundation.org, children.org, ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, concernusa.org, globalcitizen.org, healthpovertyaction.org, ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
