Have LGBTQ volunteers come in to talk about their experiences of being LGBTQ in school. As participants speak with each volunteer have them fill out an empathy map. They will make notes on what that person thinks, says, feels and then come up with two things them as a supporter can do to be better ally to that specific person. This will help participants to better understand empathy not only LGBTQ people but, these skills and strategies can apply to any other person or group as well.
