Erikson's first stage is the one of the most important ones because it not only shapes your personality but also gives you a sense of what the world will be like. It goes to the age of 18 months and helps you to learn whether or not to trust your caregiver. I was talking to my caregiver that was watching over me at the time, she had told me that I would cry most of the time when I was hungry or wanted attention. She would pick me up and fed me and play with me so I would stop crying. My mom told me that I usually didn't cry all that much except for those times. It took me awhile to get trained by using my hands to signal when I wanted up, food, or to be played with, but my mom said I started to catch on pretty quickly. My mom would probably call me a "slow-to warm-up child," because my temperament was mild, but I was also " hesitant about accepting new experiences.

This second stage takes place when the child is 2 to 3 years of age. This stage the start to develop a little bit of independence. They are starting to make simple decisions like, what toys they want, what food they want, and even what kind of clothing they want to put on. My caregiver had told me at this age I was starting to get potty trained and was having a little bit of trouble. My mom tried to get me to go in the potty trainer. She started to make me go before and after I ate so that way, I wouldn't keep going in my pants that often. My mom had said that I was a struggle to potty train and said told me I was like a " terrible twos."

At this stage the child is now 3 to 5 years of age. It takes place at preschoolers age, and they begin to assert power and control over things by playing or social interaction. At this age my mom told me I was quite a sassy child during preschool and sometimes go notes from school that I was being to mean to the other children. I apparently got to demanding and started to tell the other children what to do and what to play with. I didn't realize it at the time that I was being like that, but my mom had told me that I had made some of the other children sad and even cry because I wouldn't let them play with a toy. After she had told me about what the teacher said she had asked if I felt bad and I did, and the next morning I went to school and apologized for being mean and controlling. I would say that I was wanting "more and more" when playing with toys.

This stage takes place at the ages of 6 to 11 years when they are in school. This stage is where they begin to get a sense of accomplishment for completing their schoolwork or little jobs they were asked to do by parents or a schoolteacher. At this stage I was living with different caregivers at the time, and I was 7. I was in second grade and was put in private school. I was doing very well and when I got done with all my work the teacher would say we could have a piece of candy. We also got to play outside if we got all of our work done for that day. I would say I was "developing a sense of industry," by working hard to achieve a goal.

The fifth stage of Erikson's timeline takes place at around the ages of 12 to 18 years where you are starting to become a teenager. At this stage they are trying to develop a sense of personal identity. They are trying to figure out the beliefs, goals, and values along while they are trying to search for personal identity. At this age my parents say I'm still trying to figure out who I am. What my purpose in life is supposed to be. I guess I would say that I am more" identity versus role confusion."

This stage covers where the period of early adulthood when people are exploring personal relationships. I am currently 19 years old about to turn 20 this coming June but I am currently not looking for a intimate relationship at the moment. I want to finish college get settled into my new job before I think about starting a long-term relationship. I currently have very good relationships with my family and friends at this moment that support me and help me with, "stressful situations."

The next stage is where the ages of 40 to 65 years take place. This stage is where adults need to take care of things that will outlast them. In other words, raising children, creating a positive change that will ultimately benefit other people. It also will focus on career and family during this stage. I will most likely be focusing on making a family and working on my career at this age. So, I can provide for my future family and things to come. I will try to have a "family atmosphere" that is friendly and calming.

This is the final stage that takes place at the ages of 65 to death. This stage is where you mostly focus of past life experiences. Looking back on what you have done and seeing if you have and regrets about doing things or things you didn't get to do that you should have done. I might look back on my life a see what things I've done and be happy with it. I might look back and regret things that I should have done that I can't do now, or things that I've don't that I wish I could take back. I might look back and see that I had " spent more time with peers and less time with family" and I would feel regret not spending enough time with them.
