Fabio Moon and his twin brother Gabriel Ba are the authors of The Day Tripper. They are from Brazil. Some of Fabios words in one of his interviews explains why his comics are so good. He fist explains that he is a reader before an author. This is important because he evaluates many different ways of pulling in readers and learns how to tell a story. Something I found interesting was the main reason they use comics to tell stories is because they use images to guide the story. Something he said in an interview really clicked with me, Words are more than mere words and images are more than images. He further explained this and it really just means that he leaves the story open for different interpretations. It is important to analyze the authors style to appreciate what separates them from others.
Two Brazilian Graphic Novelists: Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon: A Conversation with Patrícia Lino - LALT (latinamericanliteraturetoday.org)

My driving question was what does a full life look like. In the Day Tripper I interpreted the main character Bras to never feel fulfilled despite having successes and people in his life who love him. There was always something greater that unsettled him at the end of the day. It was kind of ironic because his job was to write obituaries and research individuals lives. He saw both sides of achievements in lives. At some points in the story, he explained how he his job wasn't what he wanted to do, and he didn't feel a sense of importance. His father reminded him that he helps grieving families feel a little bit better about losing a loved one. When I see this image, I see a plain dark body with a bright colorful soul breaking free carrying the world by his hands. This is someone who has big ambitions and wants to take on the world and do something with their life but may feel trapped by their life situations or the conformities of society.

I think wether we are living a fullfilled life or not is something we can all relate too, I know I can. I find myself to be an energized motivated person that does not like to waste a minute. I think I have started things earlier than a lot of people and I am satisfied with my achievements. I also found a set of base rules for myself that I can always fall back on when I lose my self during stressful times. I also feel I have found myself and a base set of moral rules. I know this will change throughout life with new experiences, but I know myself, who I am and what I like. This does not mean I am completely fulfilled, I have so much to do and a lot of progression to make but I am content knowing I am pretty stable. Fulfillment is very different for everyone. Some people like living simple lives while other want to experience as much as possible. One thing we can all relate too is no matter what our idea of a full life is tough times that everyone is affected by can impede on our growth as a human. We have all experienced this in the past few years.

This poem explains the growth of a person and the journey they took to get were they are. I relate this to The Day Tripper because we see different areas of Bras life and how he changes. From youth to old and low to high the authors put different perspectives in each chapter.

I relate this ted talk to the day tripper because he talks about ways to improve your life and what he has found from a 75 yearlong study and his own life. I like to put this together with the day tripper because there is a difference. I feel like the ted talk is more superficial and not specific to each person, whereas the day tripper can be relative because people are able to actively change the story to match their life. It is more genuine and relative to your personality.

Movies are a great way to learn life lessons. A movie I recently watched was Everything, everywhere all at Once. On the surface this movie seems like a bunch of nothingness, but as the movie goes on you start to see the meaning. What I got from this movie was that there is a possibility that this universe means nothing and things like rules are relative, and you can just say screw everything and do whatever you want, or nothing at all. Another problem with one of the characters was that she was being held back from the people in her life and she saw other versions of herself in different universe and all these different things she could have been. She felt her life wasn't fulfilled and she blamed her husband and daughter. The other side is that the universe places you with people who will balance you and all you need to do is love and be kind.
