Freidays

Our school organised a project, that is called "Freidays". This project consist of asking the students to do a project of their choice, that supports the glogal goals for sustainable development. During the project the students learn to be independend by making their own choices to make their project come true, without any or very less help. And it also helps the students to learn more about the 17 gloabal goals.

Our school is doing the ESSF (European Schools for a Sustainable Fashion) project in collaboration with Erasmus+, we will be working with Italian and Portuguese schools.

The main objective of the project is to raise awareness and improve knowledge about the issue of Sustainable Fashion.

IES Gabriel Miró (Spain) is an Ambaissador School of the European Parliament, and we have to teach some EU units to our students. Related to this project we have given a lesson about EU Values to the two groups in our school in this project. We inclose the slides of the presentation. After the presentation students prepared posters with the name of the EU Values in Spanish and English language and we placed them in our INFOPOINT in the Hall of our school.

IES Gabriel Miró, as Ambaissador school of the European Parliament has been invited to Euroscola on the session on 25 October. 24 students and 4 teachers from IES Gabriel Miró participated in this event finaced by the European Parliament. Victoria Hernández, one of the Spanish teachers in this project participated in this event, as the coordinator of this program of Ambaissador schools in our school.

In Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Szubin, students were talking about parliamentary system in Poland as well as about voting.

Next, they prepared posters and put them on school board.

Apart from exhibition our students made two quizzes concerning parliamentary system in Poland and about Polish Constitution.

The quizzes were used during History lessons and all students took part.

My class in front of the "Brandenburger Tor" (Brandenburg Gate) in the centre of Berlin.

We visited the "Bundestag", our national parliament, and the "Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen" where we learned about the history of the former remand centre of the Ministry of State Security (1945-1989) and the fates of the detainees.

How to foster a culture of remembrance ("Erinnerungskultur")? How to keep awareness of Nazi crimes and the Holocaust alive in Germany and to convey its significance to our students? Together with colleagues from other vocational colleges, I went to Gdansk in Poland. We visited Westerplatte (WW2 memorial), the memorial site Stutthof (a former German concentration camp), the WW2 museum and the Europejskie Centrum Solidarnościthe, a museum commemorationg the Solidarnosc revolution and the collapse of communism in Europe.

From April 6 to 9, 2025, 12 students from the IES Gabriel Miró, from their first year of high school and first year of intermediate vocational training in the Care for People in Situations of Dependency cycle, accompanied by teachers Celia Rubio, Carolina García, and Victoria Hernández, carried out a group mobility trip to Brussels to visit and learn firsthand how the three most important institutions of the European Union, the Commission, the Parliament, and the Council, work. This mobility trip was funded by our Erasmus+ School Education and Vocational Training projects for the current 2024/2025 school year.
