The article says, “In order to trade with the Mandans for corn and dried vegetables, the members of the Corps agreed to repair and sharpen metal objects that the Mandan and Hidatsa Indians had collected from British traders (including hoes, skinning knives, kettles, and firearms). The party was able to trace the bear’s steps by following a trail of blood, whereupon they killed it, preserving its hide and salvaging its meat for rendering into grease for cooking.” Salvaging all the resources within the bear. These plants live in the driest of areas, due to needing only little water. The base of the organism is green, with little needle like one inch spines poking off it. Off of the main plant, extending from the top, are purple pinkish like swollen fruits. The fruits look like stubby, swollen fingers branching off a wide, flat, green hand. The needles help us stich up broken skin when we move through thorns. Also we would peal off the fruits’ skins and eat the insides. It is a bit bigger than a chicken, and a bit small than a sheep. Nevertheless it could eat both with its set of jaws. In the winter is is a bit easier to spot, due to its auburn red color. The tips of its ears and paws are black like coal. Hunting these animals makes a great meal for a few, and makes a small blanket for John Baptist. Also if you sew multiple together, you get a warm cloak or blanket. Their intentions were controlling the trades on the river, and when traders passed, often times the Tenton would demand gifts. Sometimes, they even violent tactics. The Tenton traded with its neighbors, trading guns, clothes, and supplies for food. The Teton had a very strict, large army, made aware to their neighbors. While with the Tenton was half a week, Clark made observations, and wrote specifics about the Tetons. The Teton men wore hawk feathers about their heads and robes over their bodies, while women dressed in buffalo skins and robes. Also Tetons held a number of celebrations to celebrate a war victory over the rival Omahas.
