By the time Lee was old enough to attend school, the already independent child had earned the nickname his mother had given him as an infant, Spike—an indirect reference to his toughness. When he, his two younger brothers, and one younger sister were offered the option of attending the chiefly white private school where his mother taught, Lee chose instead to go to public school, where he would be assured the companionship of black peers. He graduated from John Dewey High School in Brooklyn. For college, Lee chose to go to the all-black college his father and grandfather had attended, Morehouse College, where he majored in mass communication.

He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Lee's awareness of his African American identity was established at an early age. His mother, Jacquelyn, encouraged her children's enthusiasm for African American art and literature. She took her children to galleries, plays, and museums.

Lee works as an educator as well. He has taught at New York University and also at Harvard

He comes from an intelligent/education background where his father was a musician, his mom was a school teacher.

Bollywood dance sequences

Dance is a big part of Indian culture. It represents unity and tells a story through body movement. It blends music, dance, costumes, storytelling, and colours to showcase culture and messages. It is something that bonds every Indian as we can relate to feeling the same excitement and awe when we watch it. Hollywood musicals do not have the intricate details that make it similar to Bollywood movies. It is something personal to Indians (and other Southeast Asians). 

Hollywood has tried to implement similar scenes in their movies by having a lead actor dance around while Indian music plays in the background, but it is not to tell a story. It is merely used as character introductions most of the time. For example, Marvel’s Eternals.

However, in Bollywood films, these sequences can go on for about 5-7 minutes, which help deepen the understanding of characters.  

Apart from letting the audience understand the character better, It is also used to hint/foreshadow various outcomes in character development and plots.

 

The social value this item has for me is during my childhood, it would always relieve my boredom as a child and also help me build stronger bongs with my family as I would always constantly ask them to play it with me. It represents Singaporean culture as it is a traditional Singaporean childhood toy. The toy reminds me of my childhood and whenever I see it, I always feel nostalgic and reminisce about the past. 

 

To me, it means the joy and happiness I experienced during my childhood as it remined me when I was a very carefree and simple-minded child.

 

A way this can be portrayed in a story of a movie is during a flashback scene. In the flashback, the character as a child can be playing this ball in their happiest moments with their closed ones (family). The ball can represent the memories and joy the character felt when they were a child where they did not need to think about the harsh reality the world 

 

It can be an element to be included in the set design where in instance, a family gathers for a reunion dinner during occasions like Chinese New Year or Mid-autumn festival.
