By Dhaaneya

> Through the cultural workshop, it has opened up my eyes on the things i briefly knew about.
> Firstly, i never knew about the meaning behind the colours they used for face painting in the Chinese opera but i am aware that it symbolises a trait such as bravery for yellow.
> Secondly, the "tala" which is the beat count using your hands thought me how indian musicians conducted music without a conductor.
>finally the malay dance how they incorporated daily speeches into a gesture to use in a dance.

By Eraj

Serving the community and the nation has always been a honourable opportunity. On the 24th of January 2018 , my classmates and I received an opportunity to organaise an event for 3 hours at the silver ace Whampoa.
Firstly we had struggles finding food that old folks could enjoy eating and food that could match our Budget,
as we had to plan for above 30 over elderlies but we manage to overcome that struggle , we bought things like
tiger balm, oats, salon pas, and bread for their tea break. secondly we had to plan games that were convenient for them to play and would not be much of a hassle this we chose to do kareoke where we sang traditional songs and played a childhood game of bingo
This was definitely a heartwarming experience putting a smile on their faces. The elderlies were very easy going, they didn’t complain much they had fun singing along some even came up on the dance floor.
Personally it was difficult for me at first because amongst everyone else I couldn’t speak Malay or Chinese which consisted of majority of the elderlies but as the time went by the language barrier didn’t really affect me and I had equally as much fun as the rest.

The restaurant serve mainly Western cuisine.

- The first Eighteen Chefs outlet was opened in 2007 and till March 2017 there are a total of 13 outlets in Singapore.

- Its aim and vision is to strive to provide customers with good quality food at an affordable price.

- The owner wants to spread his story of being a convicted felon. With this, he could help others like him giving them an opportunity to start over working at his company.

- This was one of the reasons why my group decided to choose Eighteen Chefs. Their interesting backstory really intrigued us and the way they view people despite their past was refreshing.

2) Talks by 2 alumni

- Know what you like and try to expand and learn more things about it

- Age does not define what you are allowed to do

- There will definitely be obstacles along the way but never give up
