Reflection (Job interview)

In the job interview scenario, the language used was appropriate for a formal and professional context. The conversation was conducted in a respectful tone, which is essential in this type of interaction. The candidate used polite expressions such as ‘Good morning,’ ‘Thank you for the opportunity,’ and ‘Could you tell me...?’ which reflect good manners and communication skills. In addition, the answers were complete and showed confidence, using appropriate vocabulary related to the world of work, such as ‘responsibility,’ ‘punctuality,’ ‘innovation,’ and ‘training.’

Correct use of verb tenses is also evident, mainly the past tense to talk about previous work experience (‘I worked last year’) and the present tense to describe personal qualities (‘I am organised,’ ‘I like working in a team’). These structures facilitate clear and professional communication.

However, there are some areas for improvement. For example, the applicant could use connectors to make her answers more fluid, such as “in addition”, “on the other hand” or “in my opinion”. She could also give more specific examples of her experience to demonstrate her skills. Similarly, she could expand her vocabulary to avoid repetition of words such as “company” or “work”.

Overall, the language was formal, clear, and respectful, which helps to make a good impression in an interview. By improving lexical variety and details, communication would be even more effective and convincing.

Reflection (In a clothing shop)

In the clothing shop scenario, the language was appropriate for everyday conversation. The tone was friendly and natural, with common expressions such as "Yes, please", "Can I try it on?" or "It's a little tight on me", which are clear and easy to understand. A neutral register was used, as this is an interaction between customer and salesperson where courtesy is maintained, but without excessive formality.

The vocabulary was simple and correct, focused on the context of shopping: "jacket", "size" "colour", ‘fitting room’ and ‘discount’. The grammatical structures are short and precise, which makes the conversation flow naturally. In addition, the use of "please" and "thank you" reflects good manners, which is very important in this type of situation.

However, there is room for improvement. For example, the customer could use slightly more descriptive phrases to express preferences or comparisons, such as "I prefer the blue one because it goes better with my clothes" or "This one is more comfortable than the other one". The vocabulary could also be expanded with words related to materials or styles, such as "woollen", "waterproof" or "long-sleeved".

Overall, the conversation was appropriate, respectful, and coherent. Adding more natural expressions and a more varied vocabulary would make communication more fluid and rich.
