She is portrayed as someone who is willing to manipulate situations, as it is ilustrated in chapter seven when she was being interview by Inspector Walsh and he said that Diane blackmailed her mother every month to take money from her saying you killed my daddy. and as an impulsive person, because when she was accused of killing Molly many times along the reading, she tended to overeact and to storm out ot the situations.

At the end inspector Walsh came back at Clarkson's house. He felt tired and he had identified with the information collected who had been the killer, but he needed to ask one or two questions to be safe about it. and he was ready to tell the truth.
