I am entering the field of early childhood Education because I've always enjoyed being around children and trying to understand their mind. I want to be there for children in need while helping them improve in their behaviours. As of right now, I am an after school teacher and it has helped me decide what kind of leader I can be to children. So far, I'm interested in becoming a kindergarten teacher or an educational resource teacher. I'm very interested in learning more of Physiology of children and how they perceive the world.

Teaching children has been so interesting and what I am passionate for in a career. Teaching young children allows me to become more patient in life and with the student. A feature that is also important when becoming a teacher is that teachers can become great at communicating with others. Another feature that I find most interesting in young children is being able to teach them in creative ways. I find this interesting because not only do you help them become active mentally, but this will also help you mentally as well.

Diversity plays a big role when it comes to having a career. When getting into the career you set yourself into, you will begin to notice that no single person in your career will be the same. When it comes to becoming a teacher, you will also notice that not all students are the same. However, that does not mean that your mindset of your student changes based on the colour of their skin. Therefore, you want your classroom in a diverse setting and treat every student with the same treatment. As we know, we have implicit and explicit biases. When it comes to having a comfortable environment for our students, we shouldn’t be putting our biases on them. Like the video stated “although things are being stated in the table, you have to keep account of who is at the table, which is the kids.” There’s no denying the fact that statements of racism can happen in a student's environment, but if we allow this to occur in a classroom, then we are encouraging racism in children’s mindset.

To give a little more insight about my life, I am the oldest sister of four other siblings. One with ADHD at 16, while the other two siblings who have autism that are ages 10 and 7. I have always been more of the care taker when my parents are not around. Although this is not my only experience being around kids with special needs, I feel as though it takes a lot of effort to become that role module as a teacher to younger children. One thing I would need to prepare myself as a future teacher is to be aware that you have to be extremely patient with children and being really easy going with them. One other idea that I have to be aware of when I become a teacher is that not every child is the same, and they may all deal with certain emotions differently. One way I can enhance my understanding and experience with these types of problems is to observe a typical kinder garden classroom. This will allow me to grab ideas for my future students and grasp approaches made by fellow teachers.

When I become a kinder garden teacher, I feel as though the curriculum that I will use best in my classroom is being in a integrated learning curriculum. In this stage of life, children are processing a lot of new responsibilities and meanings to life that may take longer for other peer to process this around them. As a kinder garden teacher and elementary teacher, ones responsibility is to teach children to accomplished certain subjects at a time. This will allow children to learn which area of studies are easy for them and which ones they have to work harder on.

I feel as though I will make many contributions as Child Development major and to my future career. I feel as though I will become a leader and a person my students can come to when they need someone to talk to. I will do this by setting rules and boundaries while allowing children to fully express their emotions when it is necessary to do so. I feel as though I do well at this since I already work for children in kindergarten and volunteer to be an advisor for youth when necessary. I also always try to be there for special need students when I am at my job.
