I have underestimated the purpose of formative assessment all this time. In fact, now I know it's not only about providing marks and grades to communicate with students and parents regarding learning progress, but also about offering feedback to students on how to improve their learning.

Implementation of AaL

I never knew how to apply assessment as learning in higher education all this time. After Assessment 1, I discovered that the curriculum documents for the program I am teaching do provide guidance on how to implement AAL in tertiary education. At this point, I realized that students can also be fully responsible for monitoring their own learning progress instead of solely depending on the lecturer to provide knowledge.

I have learnt much about assessment approaches in this module, that it isn't just about grading a learner.

Flexibility in classroom assessment methods is required, to accommodate the diverse learning abilities and styles of learners. Teachers need to be constantly mindful of the principles & practices in assessing.

It is a module to assist in reflecting the assessments on how to design it appropriately to the students. I have learned that designing an appropriate assessment is not only focused on the objectives itself, but it also involved several procedures, such as providing feedback, collecting the data and so on.
