The Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) puts the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to REACH their full potential. Our rights-respecting school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Children and our community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day.

Ethos Team

"In Ethos we have lots of things to encourage religion, we don't just support one religion we have multiple here in All Saints. We also do lots of assemblies and collective worship, we set up the worship table and organise the weekly prayer. We get children to learn about loads of religions not just one." Health and Well-being

"We check children's packed lunches to make sure they are healthy, if they are they get a sticker and if they're not, we tell them what they can put in their packed lunch to make it healthy. OPAL Team

"OPAL team is about helping everyone and giving toys to everyone to make sure they're having fun during lunchtime. For example we take the bikes out so that children can learn to ride them. OPAL stands for Outdoor Play and Learning if you wanted to know." Denzel, OPAL Team, Year 6

Reading Team

"We take books outside in the shed area where people sit and read, we have different days when we read to people. We tidy the library every Wednesday and on Friday's before assembly ends we help people choose a book to take home." Ahad, Reading Team, Year 6

Sports Team

Class Charities

Here at All Saints, we are keen to ensure our children understand their role in making the world a better place. Each class has a charity they support and organise a fundraiser for linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Team Leaders

Here at All Saints, every child is given the opportunity to join a team if they wish. They complete applications and are then chosen by staff and team leaders. You will spot our team leaders in coloured hoodies and our team members wearing their badges with pride. It is their responsibility to promote their team's rights within school, and be the voice of the children.

Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 sustainable development goals for a better world by 2030. At All Saints, we explore current global issues and encourage an awareness of the impact that individuals can have on them through our charity work. We have used the Sustainable Development Goals to explore these issues.

Design a Logo Competition

Children's Parliament

Our Rights Respecting Council took part in the recent children's parliament debate on "does democracy matter". This was also part of a Guinness World Record.

Bill of Rights - collective worship

Today we explored the communication bill of rights as a whole school. Across the course of the worship we discussed our rights, gave examples of what they look like in real life and had volunteers up discussed a time when their rights were respected.

Today a representative from Farnworth and Kearsley food bank came to speak with us. We learned how important it is to support people in our community who don’t always have enough to eat - which links with our RE lessons about caring for others and showing kindness regardless of religion or worldviews. It also helps us prepare for our fundraising campaign and harvest assembly, where we will put these values into practice by sharing what we have with those in need.

We're also aware of how this links with human rights.
