Objective: Students learn to express their feelings.

Materials: Pinboard, coloured papers, coloured pens

Adaptation Made: Students instead of chosing readymade emojis, they create their own custom emojis. And then talk about their emoji and their feelings today.

Rationale: At this age group students may prefer an activity that prioritizes their own emotions. Thus allowing them to make their own custom emojies may help them engage better with the activity.

Procedure (Step-by-step):

The teacher gives the following instructions to students: The teacher passes the ball and asks “Find someone who…”. The student selects the classmate and asks him to find someone who matches the statement. Then, the student who got the ball continues to pass and find someone new. The activity goes on until everyone participates.

Adaptations Made:

The activity is adapted to make it more engaging and interactive for young learners by adding movement and some element of fun. Passing the ball reduces the pressure of doing it in a traditional way by turning the task into a game.

Learners profile: Adults Learners B1-B2 level

Objective:By the end of the activity, students will identify and express a range of emotions using appropriate vocabulary.

Material: Scenario cards with real-life adult situations.

Board or projector for examples.

Procedure (step-by-step):

Warm up: show an emoji card and ask when was the last time you felt like this?

Introduction: The teacher shows the emojis and recaps the feelings and explains the Inside out scenario cards.

Activity: Distribute inside out scenario cards which includes a scenario and then they write a paragraph anonymously.

After the activity they exchange papers and give feedback. Adaptations made: More complex vocabulary regarding feelings and we transformed the speaking activity into a writing activity.

Rationale: Adult learners of English use the ice-breaking activity to familiarize themselves with each other while discussing about their feelings and emotions to develop their vocabulary skills.
