How can we increase the number of QI project submissions?

EP members make personal contact with PH practitioners inviting them to submit proposals.
- PHQIX could showcase submissions during a period of time at the next conference (i.e., QI Open forum or PHIT).
- EP members could look at the application process to see if we can reduce any application barriers (i.e., it is time-consuming).
- Do a needs assessment (simple survey) to select PHQIX website members to see what is preventing them from submitting projects. We could do this at the next conference as well.
- Do Annual QI Awards for submissions and for QI champions in the field. Currently there is no recognition for QI Coordinators that are doing a good job. This can be discouraging, especially when there is not much guidance in this position.
- Link the projects that are submitted to PHAB during the application process to PHQIX.

Why is PHQIX Community Forum participation currently "waning"?

Drawings to incentive comments to Community Forum or Submitted QI Projects are now 6X per year not monthly.
Current incentives (<$35) are not as enticing as previous incentives.
Is it possible we're reaching saturation in terms of the topics covered in existing forum posts? (yes, how can we generate more topic ideas?)

- Health departments are at various levels of QI implementation so maybe we can cater towards beginning, intermediate, and advanced discussions
- Navigating the forum topics could be improved to be more user-friendly. (Laura: We are in the process of exploring our options for categorizing topics to facilitate searching)

Many people are using phPIN and that may be drawing our audience away

Some of the questions posted don't appear to be of interest

There is no search function for topics, so even those drawn to the site need time and patience to peruse it if they are in search of specific information

- Make the community forum more visible from the main webpage (Ty: I Like this idea. Maybe a "widget" that displays the last 2 or 3 questions/comments posted to the Forum ..)
- Partner with the phPIN network. Many of the questions being asked through their listserve are current/potential questions for the forum. At least the PHQIX forum can be accessed at a later time and by more people than the phPIN listserve. EP members could ask some of these individuals to post the same questions on PHQIX. Not sure if that would be a legal problem.
- Create sub-forums for beginner, intermediate, and advanced discussions for easier navigation
- Incorporate forum topics in the "Search" criteria for the website so forum topics are searchable just like project submissions.
- Recruit some "QI champions." This group could help generate real-life discussions that are occurring in the field. Instead of paying them, they could be "spotlighted" or sent a certificate for their resume for being change agents.
- The field of public health QI is growing. How can PHQIX grow with it? Can we partner with other organizations promoting QI resources to be the "go-to" QI project database? Healthcare does not have this!
