I am an investigator. I do not “intuitively” understand much of anything from the beginning, but I will challenge everything until I finally understand and can explain. I love to teach math in this lens: you can do it! Anyone can do it.

I am a research mathematician who is mostly interested in number theory. I have trained two PhD students and am almost finished training a third. I enjoy research and teaching and at this point I barely distinguish the two.

Transition to being a math major on a path to being a grad student (fingers crossed)

I like it sometimes, I love it sometimes, sometimes it becomes the place where I revisit the deepest feelings of not belonging. I love it but it depends on the people so I always wonder do I really??

I go from 0 to 10 depends in the subject like I'm at a 0 for analysis but a 10 for abstract algebra, a 7 for linear algebra, 10 for some statistics

I struggle with my confidence in mathematics. Somedays it feels like I must be the biggest conman ever to have fooled everyone to get here. Other days I remind myself that there’s no way I could have fooled EVERYONE along the way, so I am worthy enough to be here

Math is extraordinary. In one breath, math pushes and welcomes simultaneously. I love that it reveals how one thinks and permits growth at such a fundamental level.
