It seems like the reading uses the point of view of professionals in order to prove a point, it has more of a literal interpretation. The inferential parts of the readings are never the same between the readers, because what I might have sense from a text is not the same as yours. So the reports on the reading might vary.

Literal comprehension is what the author is saying 
Inferential is how it says it, you have to read between the lines and make inferences about things not directly stated.
Critical what it means, why the author is saying what he/she is saying. 
Why is knowing this important ? Improves reading. Strong readers make good writers, expands vocabulary.

You can find literal parts in the reading almost everywhere, for example ; “Anyway, what an expert cast of hundreds is telling us is, simply, that biological possibility and desire are not the same as biological need. Women have childbearing equipment.
