The Kidnapping of Jaycee Dugard. (Event 1)

On June 10th,1991; Jaycee was walking to her bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, California. As she was walking up the hill, a strange vehicle drove up beside her and Jaycee assumed the man and the women in the car were going to ask for directions. All the sudden, the man in the car used a stun gun on Jaycee and forced her into the car. Then man drove away while the women held down Jaycee with her foot.

The 1st Week in Captivity (Event 2)

A few hours after Jaycee gets kidnapped, Jaycee, the man and the women arrive at the house. The man, whose name is Phillip, forces her to clean up. After Jaycee cleans up, Phillip takes her into a small soundproof studio which is located in his backyard, handcuffs her on the padlock and leaves her alone with the door locked. As days go by, Jaycee has to depend on Phillip go give her food and drinks. One week later, Phillip rapes Jaycee for the first time.

Meeting Nancy (Event 3)

A few months after being kidnapped, Phillip brings in the woman who helped Phillip kidnap Jaycee. The woman´s name is Nancy and Jaycee finds out that Nancy is Phillip´s wife. Phillip tells Jaycee that Nancy will be bringing in her food for now on. At first Nancy does not stay with Jaycee because Nancy is very jealous. Later on, Nancy stays longer with Jaycee and even bought her a soft, purple bear.

The 1st Pregancy (Event 4)

On Easter of 1994, Phillip and Nancy made a home cooked meal for Jaycee. It is the 1st time in 10 months that Jaycee had a home cooked meal. After the meal, Nancy and Phillip tell Jaycee that they think she is pregnant. Jaycee was terrified at first, but then enjoyed being pregnant because she does not feel as lonely. The day she had her baby, she was in severe pain and was alone for a few hours. Nancy finally comes around 5pm that day and gets Phillip. The pain lasts through out the night and into the next morning. On August 18th, 1994 at 4:35am her 1st daughter is born. Jaycee is 14 years-old when she has her 1st baby.

The 2nd Pregnancy (Event 5)

A few years after, when her daughter is 3 years-old; Jaycee finds out she's pregnant again. On the night of November 12, 1997 Jaycee wakes up at 11pm with pain. Hesitating, Jaycee wakes up her 3 year old daughter and they went to studio where Phillip and Nancy are sleeping. Jaycee wakes up Phillip and tells him the baby is coming. At 2:15am on November 13th, 1997 she gave birth to her 2nd daughter.

Jaycee Hides her Identity from her 2 Daughters (Event 6)

Jaycee is raising her 2 girls in the secret backyard. As time goes by, Nancy decides to quit her job at CAP. Nancy's jealousy at the fact that Jaycee's girls are calling Jaycee their mom because Nancy can't have her own kids. Phillip suggested to Jaycee that Nancy will be "mom" and Jaycee will be the girls "older sister." Phillip lets Jaycee pick a new name and she decides to be called Allissa. The 2 girls grew up thinking that they had an older sister named Allissa and not knowing that Jaycee is their biolodicical mother.

Freedoms, but Not Actually Free (Event 7)

When Jaycee's daughters are 1 and 4 years old, Phillip and Nancy are starting to take Jaycee out of the house. To be absolutely sure Jaycee won't be recognized, Phillip and Nancy dye Jaycee's hair brown and cut it short. The 1st outing as a "fake family" is at the beach. Weeks after that, Nancy took Jaycee to the nail salon. Jaycee was able to go to Walmart and go Trick-or-Treating with her girls. Jaycee enjoyed her experiences outside the backyard, Jaycee was also terrified of being recognized by someone because she doesn't want to make Phillip and Nancy angry.

Free after 18-years (Event 8)

On August 24th, 2009 Phillip takes the 2 girls to San Francisco so Phillip could give a speech to the state authorities. Phillip assumed that people would listen better if the girls were with him. When the authorities saw that he didn't have daughters in his background check, they were suspicious and arrested Phillip the next day. Later that day, Phillip came home, but had to go to the Concord Parole office. Phillip told Jaycee to tell the officers that she was the mother of the girls. As Jaycee was about to leave the station, the officers came back to Jaycee and accused her of lying because Phillip told them that she's not the mother of the 2 girls. Hours of being terrified and questioned, Phillip confessed that he kidnapped Jaycee. A female officer asked Jaycee for her name and how old she was when she was kidnapped. The officer took her and her 2 girls to a nearby place and got Jaycee's mother on the phone. A few days later, Jaycee reunites with her mother, her younger sister and her aunt and sees them for the 1st time in 18 years.

Jaycee finally learns how to drive and gets taught by her younger sister. Jaycee is known to be a very cautious driver and even gets teased by her mother about her careful driving. The two girls are going to public school for the 1st time although, the girls were home schooled when Jaycee was in captivity because Phillip convinced her that public schooling was not a good choice. Jaycee and both the girls went to the doctor and the dentist; they were all in good health. Jaycee started therapy with a lady who owns horses and enjoys it because they don't treat her like a "special" person. A year later, Jaycee writes her book "A Stolen Life" to tell her story with many details. Jaycee is finally able to live her life without Phillip or Nancy.

Phillip and Nancy's Past

Phillip Garrido was born on April 5th, 1951 in Contra Costa County, California. According to his father, Manuel Garrido, he said Phillip was a good child until Phillip experienced a serious motorcycle accident as teenage. After the accident, Phillip turned to started doing drugs like crystal meth and marijuana. In the year of 1972, Phillip was arrested for the 1st time after sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl, but the case didn't go to trial because the 14-year old girl refused to testify. In 1976, kidnapped Katherine Callaway and took her to a warehouse in Nevada to rape her. The police noticed the broken lock outside the warehouse and went to the door. Callaway escaped and Phillip got arrested. He had to go to Leavenworth Penitentiary and met Nancy. Nancy was born on July 18th, 1955 in Seguin Texas. Phillip was released from the prison and got married on January 22, 1988. Phillip and Nancy moved to Antioch, California and moved in with Phillips mother.

What was Going on while Jaycee Was in Captivity?

Jaycee's stepfather, Carl saw Jaycee getting kidnapped. Carl tried to chase them on a mountain bike, but couldn't catch them. Carl went to his neighbors house and called 911 immediately. Carl drew a sketch of what the vehicle looked like and described what the man and women looked like. Jaycee's classmates also witnessed the kidnapping and told their principal when they got to school. Carl actually was a suspect and got call to do several polygraph test because Jaycee and her stepdad were not really that close. Jaycee's mother founded a group called Jaycee's Hope which a lot of fundraising effort was being used to look for Jaycee. 4 days after the kidnapping, the attention of finding Jaycee was featured on America's Most Wanted. The police did everything they could, but there were a lot of failed opportunities to save Jaycee. It took 18 yeas to find Jaycee and get her out of capitivity.
