Peter is sent off to Derby shire (where Kate lives) after an argument with his father. They visit Kate's father in his lab as he is a scientist. His lab contains an anti-gravity machine. and then something goes wrong with the anti-gravity machine, and then the anti-gravity machine and Kate and Peter disappears. Turns out that they were transported to 1763. They have to try and escape while encountering many historical figures along the way. 
WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN 1763
1763 was a very relevant time in Europe one main thing was the end of the seven years war. This was one of the biggest triumph Britain had over France. The seven years war was a war involving all of the continents it was a major global conflict. Much land was given to the British. France gave all of the land east of the Mississippi to the British. They also gave Louisiana to Spain excluding New Orleans. About this time was the beginning of a mass migration to the new world (Americas). This left Britan broke and in need of money. This is the motive to start taxing the colonies which eventually lead to the birth of the U.S.A. The King of Britain at this time was king George the III who was mentally ill.
THE CONNECTION 
This ties in with my book because in my book the main characters have to travel to London because of the fact that Mr. Byng is in the new world to finish up the seven years war.
