This chapter teach us how to connect two sentences. We have some important rules when it comes to coordination.
1-We use semicolon if the idea of the independent clauses have close connection.
2-We can also use fanboys to connect two sentences.
3- You can use period or you can combined the sentence without repeating the subject.
4- You can also use transition words.

Subordination: The main idea is in the independent clause, and the second idea is the dependent clause.
Rules.
1- If the dependent clause comes first in the sentence. You need a coma before the independent clause.
2-The independent clause doesn't need a coma before the dependent clause.
3- You can use subordinating conjunctions to connect the two sentences.

In this chapter I learned about the correct ways of formulating a sentence. I found this topic very interesting because I wasn't clear about the rules of punctuation. These elements are really important since a bad placement of commas or periods may affect the interpretation of a sentence.

In the coordination clause, we can see some important rules about punctuation, such as:

• The use of semicolons when the structure of the sentence is similar.

• The use of comma before the following 7 coordinating conjunctions: and, but, so, or, nor, for and yet.

Then, the book shows us information about transitions that help us to connect ideas. (In addition, meanwhile, however, therefore, in fact, for example...) We use commas with these expressions.

The last topic in this chapter is called subordination, that refers to the combination of an independent clause with a dependent one. (When, where, because, so that, unless...) In this case we don't add commas in the sentences.

In the previous week, we learned to identify, and use suffixes while writing sentences. We were focusing on the suffixes -ize, -ify, -ise and -ate. Basically, we were able to change adjectives and nouns to verbs. Also, we had the opportunity to identify relevant data from a reading, a diagram and a timeline. In this way, we could understand the importance of graphics, and how to classify information correctly. Finally, it is relevant to mention that we had a meeting with people from other Access groups where we shared ideas about culture, respect and tolerance.

During the previous week, we learned how to write paragraphs based on graphs and charts. This was really interesting and easy for me because I just needed to read the details of the graphics carefully. We were able to understand specific context words in order to apply them correctly. We also learned about articles, especially when to use "the" or "zero article".
