A Taste of the Story

Since the Taliban banned girls over 12 from school, millions have lost access to education. Yet, the majority of Afghans believe girls’ education is vital. In response, families and NGOs have created secret schools and online programs, helping girls continue learning despite severe restrictions.

My comment

It’s kinda inspiring that Afghan girls risk so much to keep learning despite the ban. Their determination shows how important education is to them. To me it’s heartbreaking they face this. Education is a basic right, and I hope the community keeps pushing for these girls to get the opportunities they deserve.

After the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan in 2021, they prohibited girls from attending secondary schools and universities. This harsh restriction has forced many girls to pursue education in secret, often in unsafe locations, risking severe consequences. Yet, their strong passion for learning pushes them to find innovative ways to keep studying despite the threats.

To me. its both heartbreaking and inspiring to witness these girls risk so much just to access education. Learning is a crucial basic human right, and it’s tragic that it’s being denied simply because of gender. This highlights how vital education is for individual growth and the progress of society.

President Trump says Israel has agreed to a Gaza withdrawal line, pending Hamas’s approval for a ceasefire and hostage exchange. Other news: Japan may get its first female prime minister, Al-Shabaab claims a Mogadishu blast, protests erupt in Georgia and Madagascar, and Czech novelist Ivan Klima dies at 94.

If successful, the Gaza deal could mark a rare breakthrough in a long and violent conflict, but much depends on Hamas’s response and whether both sides trust the terms enough to follow through.
