The unpredictability of the sea can bring unforeseen challenges that sailors will need to overcome. If the seas are always calm, sailors will never develop problem-solving skills needed to conquer the rough seas. It is through adversity, or tough times, that people learn how to survive and experience success despite imperfect conditions. Our best opportunities for learning are in times of struggle.  For example, initially, Thomas Edison was unsuccessful when trying to create the light bulb. However, he never gave up, and with each of his 10,000 attempts, he became closer and closer to his success.
