Then when the regans decided to be her foster parents she thought they were going to be like all the other foster parents and she would just run away again. But it turns out that the Regans didn't judge Hollis like all the other parents, they let her do what she wanted and she got along with the Regans kid, Steven. 




The reason why this relates to the theme is because before hollis met the regans she was mean and cold and didn't like to be with the foster parents beause they all judged her and tried to hold her creativity back. Then she met the Regans. They let her explore aand they let her draw and the father, John regan even bought her a coloring kit. And she got along with their kid, Steven too. She didn't like her family's , she didn't have any friends, and she was mena to the teachers. but after the regans and josie, she started to warm up to people and she started to say hi to other people and do jobs for them. She did a job for a man and she got some money that she could use for food with josie.

And in the future she had a family with a Mom, a Dad, a brother, and two sisters. And in the first chaper of the book, she was in school and writing w word pictures. And Hollis chose to put a family for the picture. And in the first picture of the book she had an x on the paper from her teacher, because it wasn't a w word. And then the lemon lady put her outside for the rest of the night. but when hollis and steven crashed the truck, the parents didn't yell or scream, or make them go outside for a night. Even though hollis ran away they said they still wanted her there.


the relates to my theme because the rest of hte familys, when hollis did something, they yelled or screamed or punished her. But with the regans, they didn't do any of that, even when she crashed a car.
