         <description><![CDATA[<div>1: We measure change by looking at the two major bodies of water in the U.S, Lake Michigan and Lake Erie. In the lakes we look at a certain type of pollutant called, polychlorinated biphenyls or PCB's. These pollutants are measured annually by metric tons.&nbsp;<br><br>2: From 1982 to 2019 the annual loads of PCB's dissolved in Lake Erie have been fluctuating up and down, but have increased over time. However, from 1970 to 2019 the PCB's, measured in nanograms, found in Lake Michigan fish have significantly decreased over time.&nbsp;<br><br>3: While reading the text, a quote I found impactful was the following, "Runoff from agricultural fields is the main contributor to the phosphorus load in the lake, which supplies drinking water to 11 million people." This is shocking because this water is affecting millions of people. Yet it happens to have high levels of phosphorus which can be very damaging to the humans who drink the water and the fish who swim in.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. They used tons to measure the amount of garbage we have wasted each year and the graph shows that it keeps increasing each year.&nbsp;Each year that passes we generate even more waste. Not only we have generated more waste but we have also have started to throw away stuff that harms our environment and the earth.<br><br>2. We are producing more garbage now than in the last 50 years and not because our population has risen but because each person in the Us averaged 4.5 pounds of waste a day in 1970 we only generated about 3.25&nbsp; pounds of waste.<br><br>3. The ultimate test of man's conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.”&nbsp;<br><br>This quote from the article impacted me as a reader because the meaning of it is true because what we do now may not affect us but it will affect our children when they grow up.<br>&nbsp;Also, it says you would not hear thanks it's true why would they thank us for not making a change instead we were the problem we didn't do anything before it got even worse and that made me realize that I should try and do more than just recycle.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Parts per billion&nbsp;<br>2.in 50 years air pollution might be stalled or reversed&nbsp;but the numbers decreased&nbsp;<br>3. "Nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide can be harmful to human health when breathed in, and both react with other chemicals in the atmosphere to create the particles that contribute to smog. Lead is highly toxic and can cause neurological and cardiovascular problems" I chose this quote because I never knew that nitrogen dioxide , sulfur dioxide and lead was harmful .</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>We measure changes in this area by using graphs and the atmospheric CO2 concentration we measure in ppm which stands for parts per million.&nbsp;</li></ol><div><br>&nbsp;2. Since 1970 the ppm has grown from 325ppm all the way to 410ppm! The number keeps growing and it is very hard to put it to a halt.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br>3. In the text it says “Under the 2015 Paris climate accord, nations have agreed to limit total warming to no more than 2 degrees C above pre-industrial levels—with a preferred goal of staying below 1.5 degrees C. To date, emissions-curbing efforts have been unable to put the brakes on quickly enough to meet those targets.” This quote shows that despite the efforts put in nothing has changed or slowed down. This backs up my statement about the ppm being hard to put to a stop.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
