I took Cognitive Science for my course in Faculty Cognitive Science and Human Development. I have been assigned with doing the background of our business for our group project.

Bonjour! My name is Ivoyne Nuna. My nickname is Nuna. I come from Serian, Sarawak.  I am a first year undergraduate student. I was studying Cognitive Science for my course in Faculty Cognitive Science and Human Development. I was assigned to do product or service catalogue and business model canva for our group project.

Ni hao! I’m Rachel Yew and you all can call me Rachel. I come from Sibu, Sarawak. I am also a first year student. My course is Cognitive Science from Faculty Cognitive Science and Human Development. I was responsible for the main page and group information for our group project.

After many discussions on WhatsApp, we came up with a business idea to sell homemade cookies to people at the University of Malaysia, Sarawak. The name of our business is “Happy Synthesizer” as we want our customers to be happy after having our delicious cookies. The homemade biscuits we sell are peppermint biscuits, cornflake crunchy biscuits, nestum biscuits and chocolate biscuits.  It is sold in a jar and each jar is priced at RM 15. We selected these biscuit flavours as we believe they will be a hit with customers. We had chosen Facebook and Instagram app as our main online marketing platforms. We posted a teaser, poster of our product, pictures of customers receiving our product and customers' reviews on it. We adopted pre-orders as the way to sell our cookies and put our contact information, including phone numbers based on which college customers want to self-pick up or deliver the cookies. When the cookies we ordered from the supplier were done, our group leader picked them up and distributed them to other members so that the cookies could be delivered to customers. We also took pictures of customers receiving our cookies and also asked for their feedback on the cookies. 

We had received overwhelmingly good reviews for our cookies. Customers liked our cookies a lot as it is high quality, tasty and also good value for the price. After successfully selling our cookies, we have to produce an e-portfolio and also make a business pitching video. 

Overall, we are delighted that many customers supported our business. It was an incredibly fun and memorable project. We have learned a lot when carrying out this business project. We learned how to communicate with customers, how to do online marketing activities, how to create a business from scratch, how to make financial records and many more. This business project provided us an opportunity to learn and involve ourselves in business endeavours which is going to be useful for us in the future. It makes us realise the difficulties, the ups and downs of having a business which makes us look up to business owners out there even more. We also learnt more about the behind-the-scenes of business by involving ourselves in the project. We are very satisfied with our business and grateful that we had carried out this wonderful project, it is going to be a very precious part of our life.
