A Current and well known illness in Africa is HIV/AIDS. Africa houses 11% of the world's population but 60% has AIDS. Ebola is taking over West Africa their calling it an epidemic. This is the worse outbreak since it was discovered in 1976. Malaria and Polio are some other health issues.

Their is a shortage of Health care in Africa due to the migration of health care workers to the United States. Health care is different throughout Africa depending on the region. Those living in urban areas receive better health care then those living in rural or remote regions. Lack of funds are a big problem in Africa, health care workers have to find medical treatment that if affordable for the people.
