A lake is formed when water drains into a hole or dent in the ground. That's not the only way that lakes are formed though some lakes may be man-made. A example of a man-made lake is the lake Outlaw lake and it used to be a sand mine but the agreement was to turn it into a ski lake after they were done mining.
