The film is one of the most accurate to the original story, but this scene is somehow different in an almost  intimidating way. It shows Elizabeth, now become the second “creature” of Victor after her death, who is confused and scared and victim of the two men (Victor himself and the Monster) who compete for her. It almost seems like they are winning over her, who can’t even talk or express herself properly. But, with such determination and anger, she commits suicide. 
I was particularly attached to this scene because it’s almost at the end of the film and it shows desperation, possessiveness, power, delusion, fear, and so on. It’s not a really enjoyable or pleasing experience, but it is for sure incredibly dynamic, meaningful and overwhelming. 
The woman’s figure didn’t really have an important role in the play, but with this last action, Elizabeth decides on her own what’s better for her, and sadly prefers suicide over being subdued to two egoists.
