Patrice Ryan - Cystic Fibrosis Liaison Teacher

Patrice Ryan is an experienced senior teacher currently working at the Qld Children's Hospital School as a ward teacher and cystic fibrosis liaison teacher. With over 30 years' experience, Patrice brings a wealth of expertise to our Teacher Talk series.

Patrice has consistently demonstrated a passion for education and student welfare, she has dedicated her time engaging students to continue their learning journey, regardless of their health conditions. Her role as a CF Liaison teacher over the last five years sees her collaborating with families and health teams to enhance students' educational experiences and outcomes. She strives to make student learning experiences on hospital wards positive and engaging, while also strengthening base school connections.

Meredith O'Connor - Deputy Principal QCHS

Meredith O'Connor is a Deputy Principal at Queensland Children's Hospital School. She currently supports education staff in our regional paediatric hospital programs across Queensland. Meredith has worked in hospital education for over 20 years in a variety of roles including ward liaison teacher, Head of Curriculum, Acting Principal and Deputy Principal. She worked on the cystic fibrosis team at the Mater Hospital for over 10 years and is passionate about supporting young people with chronic illness to reach their potential. Her special interests include trauma-informed pedagogy, curriculum, professional learning and building teacher capability.

My name is Anna Bauer and I've been working with QHEP for more than ten years in various teaching and project roles. After more than twenty years in education and a wide variety of roles in mainstream in Hospital schooling, I have developed a passion for working with educators sharing and discussing what works best for our state's most vulnerable students.

It is my role to support your participation in the series. You will receive emails, calendar invitations, requests for feedback and general information from me throughout the series.

Ruth Hollin, Clinical Nurse, Queensland Children's Hospital

Ruth is a paediatric clinical nurse with over 20 years' experience of nursing both acute and chronically unwell patients. She has been part of the Cystic Fibrosis multidisciplinary team at Queensland Children's Hospital for over 10 years. As part of the team, she works with the families of over 450 children who have CF and are living in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. She has a keen interest in collaborating with the community to continue to improve the outcomes of children with Cystic Fibrosis.
