Abbey Road Studios

One of the most iconic studios in the world, Abbey Road Studios have produced the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Ed Sheeran. They are known for their cutting edge technology, labelling it as 'The best technology in the world'. Although the site doesn't state their rates, a studio with as much history and a reputation for producing some of the biggest artists in the world isn't going to be cheap.

A relatively small studio located in East London, Strongroom have produced a range of genres from Metalcore with the likes of Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium all the way through to dubstep with Skrillex. A 6 hour recording session can range from £375 to £500 and a 12 hour session can range from £450 to £700, depending on which studio you chose to use.

Where I Would Record and Why

Although both stuidos provide state of the art technology, I would rather record an EP at Strongroom Studios. One of the biggest influences on my decision is the fact that a lot of my favorite modern metal bands have recorded arguably some of their best albums in this studio. As well as that, Strongroom Studios seem to cater more for the Metal scene whereas Abbey Road seem to cater more for Rock bands or Pop artists. Because I am predominantly a Metal musician, I believe I would benefit more from recording at Strongroom Studios. However I do feel that if I was to record a Rock album I would choose Abbey Road studios over Strongroom Studios purely and simply because of the artists that have recorded there. This is also the case if i would rather record with an analog system over using digital programs.
