         <description><![CDATA[<div>“It was times like these when I thought my father, who hated guns and had never been to any wars, was the bravest man who ever lived" (Lee 105).<br><br>This quote is important because it shows Scout maturing from being an innocent child because a child would think bravery is being strong and and better than everyone, and here it shows her acknowledging that bravery isn't strength or being good with guns, but standing up for one's beliefs.</div>]]></description>

One does not love breathing" (Lee 22)<br><br>This quote is Scout's take on "you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone." She compares reading with breathing. By doing this she subtly proclaims&nbsp;that reading was something she couldn't live without. She needed to read because it kept her alive. When it was taken away she felt as if she was dying, as dramatic as that sounds. </div>]]></description>
