         <description><![CDATA[<p>In a unit on Classical Music and Film in the high school orchestra classroom, this media provides students with examples of classical music sampled in well-known Disney movies. How would the movies be different without the scores we hear? How do music and emotion complement each other? This activity is meant for an orchestra of experienced musicians so that the lesson can introduce the depth of orchestral study beneath the technical work of learning an instrument. A possible extension to this lesson could be sight-reading the pieces sampled in the YouTube video. Another possible extension could be playing the film, muting the sound, and performing the pieces as a live soundtrack in the classroom. (Judson) </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><b>Music Sampling</b> is the act of taking a portion, or <b>sample</b>, of one sound recording and reusing it as an instrument or a sound recording in a different song or piece.</p><p>The following video gives various examples of popular songs that used sampling, what songs the samples came from, and tells exactly what kind of sampling is being used in each song (i.e. various lyrics, background music/beats, or covers of whole songs).</p>]]></description>

I found shows just how well music choices, like classical music, that lets say
middle schoolers wouldn’t be interested in wouldn’t care for. The piece I found
which is Mozart’s Requiem shows that with a
bit of a more modern beat it could be enjoyed. I caught myself banging my head
to this and it shows how great something so well known can turn into something
so modern that you could get teenagers into. </h1>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This video shows the step-by-step process of transforming a piece of classical music into a hip-hop track.&nbsp; </p><p>This video could be useful in teaching about classical music sampling, because it actually shows the process which takes place in converting a classical piece into more modern-sounding music.&nbsp; It could help expand students' perceptions of classical music by showing them that even though it was composed hundreds of years ago, it could have applications in the creation of modern popular music.</p><p>It would probably be better for middle or high school students, because it goes through several complex steps fairly quickly, and the steps are shown, but not explicitly explained.&nbsp; </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This video would be a very fun way to introduce sampling to the younger ages. It shows <span style="font-size: 13px;">Pachelbel's Canon </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">in its original and classical form. Then as the video progresses it shows how a classical song can be revamped and made modern. This is the epitome of sampling in today's society. I think the kids would really enjoy this funny and cheesy video. Youtube is a great way to find videos that teach a lesson, but the kids do not feeling like they learning something. </span></p>]]></description>
