In some types of Dutch, [r] is the usual realization in words like [pro'Xrɑmaː] 'programme'. Some speakers of those varieties use this pronunciation in everyday life, but use [R], as in [pro'χʀɑmaː], when announcing programmes on national television.<br>3.
