As an art student in Madrid and Barcelona, Dalí assimilated a vast number of artistic styles and displayed unusual technical facility as a painter. It was not until the late 1920s, however, that two events brought about the development of his mature artistic style: his discovery of Sigmund Freud’s writings on the erotic significance of subconscious imagery and his affiliation with the Paris Surrealists, a group of artists and writers who sought to establish the “greater reality” of the human subconscious over reason. To bring up images from his subconscious mind, Dalí began to induce hallucinatory states in himself by a process he described as “paranoiac critical.”

Born on July 6, 1907, Frida Kahlo is a painter who became a symbol of both pain and hope in world history. Kahlo had polio at 6 years old. So she decided to study medicine. She was the first female student to attend a National Preparatory School in Mexico City. The artist astonishing everybody with her determination was seriously injured at the age of 18 as a result of a traffic accident, but once again she held on to life.

Frida Kahlo, who owed her recognition to her painting ability, continued drawing. She dedicated her years to art and painting. Frida Kahlo, we know for her paintings such as “The Two Fridas”, “Self Portrait with Necklace of Thorns”, “Self Portrait with Monkey”, passed away on July 12, 1954 and left 143 paintings, 55 of which were self-portraits.
