My name is Leah Barreiro. I am 16 years old and turning 17 soon! I am currently a Junior at City Of Hialeah Educational Academy. My hobbies and interest cover a pretty wide range such as traveling, fishing, listening to older music from the 60s-90s, cooking, baking, reading history/mystery books, writing occasionally, crocheting, and debating. Some of my favorite bands/music artists include, Creed, Nirvana, Billy Idol, Tears for Fears, Daryl Hall & John Oats, ABBA, Foreigner, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, Bon Jovi, and Journey. My favorite movie is the original "Top Gun" from 1986, I think it's a beautiful story despite the tragic moments that occur during the movie, but it also has a deeper meaning to me. The movie revolves around the military branch of the Navy, to which my sister served in the Navy a few years ago. One of my favorite shows that I have ever watched is a Turkish series called; "As The Crow Flies". My favorite type of food aside from Cuban food, is Italian food in general, including pasta, pizza, lasagna, a few other dishes. I think one of the best restaurants in Miami would have to be Cheesecake Factory or Texas de Brazil. To me, one of the coolest places in Miami, has to be the decently large variety of beaches that we offer.

My plans for the future have varied over the years. When I was younger my dream career for years, was to become a veterinarian but my dream career has shifted. Currently, my career goals are to continue my studies in order to be able to pursue my chosen career path. In the future I would like to be become a constitutional lawyer but I would also like to become more involved with politics, seeing as it is a genuine passion of mine. For a few years I have been very passionate about law, politics, and debating. I would like to get into strive and attend Ivy League University but I would also be very grateful to have an opportunity study in Florida State University or University of Florida's Levin College of Law.

Something I am proud of is that I believe that I am a well rounded student and person. Some of my accomplishments include having good attendance at school, having straight A's and B's, and having straight A's as well. In the near future I quite a few goals, I hope to accomplish having straight A's this year along with perfect attendance. Some other goals I have are to continue to participate in school clubs such as Model United Nations, trying to discover new hobbies, and continue to travel. My strengths include reading, writing, and history/ social studies. History has always been an interest of mine, even when I was like 7 years old. I find it fascinating to learn about how the world was before the modern day, learning about how the world evolved over billions of years, learning about how events that took place so many years ago have impacted the present day and continue to do so. My weakness, in terms of academics is math. I do believe it is important to always strive improve because I hold a firm belief that there is always room for improvement due to everyone having their own strengths and weaknesses.

A moment in my life that I felt as if I was on top of the world was when I traveled to Europe with my family. In the duration of that trip we visited various places in numerous countries. Those countries included Italy, France, Spain, and Monaco. I adored and treasured that trip so dearly because we were able to visit various cities and countries that I had dreamed of visiting. On that trip we saw a vast variety of historical architecture that had been there for so many years. On that trip I was also able to fathom how incredible it was that we where walking in the same place where she ancient civilizations previously inhabited. We saw numerous old cathedrals; they were like priceless pieces of art along, all of the details, the paintings, the statues, the artwork, telling stories through those hand-made images that put together those works of art. The amount of work put into every detail of these buildings and pieces of historic architecture was incredible. The details that were put into the historic buildings and cathedrals not only were beautiful and impressive but they also told stories for generations. Some other places/attractions that we also visited within those countries include Trevi Fountain (Italy), Colosseum (Italy), and the Sagrada Familia (Spain).

One of the most embarrassing things that has ever happened to me was probably when me and my family were on our trip to Europe. When we visited Spain, we were in Palma de Mallorca and we spent the day looking around the city and sight seeing. We had gotten so invested in looking around the city and exploring that we had lost track of time and soon we noticed that it was sunset and we had to start heading back to the bus station where we would be driven back to the cruise along with other passengers. When we began to walk back, that is when we realized that we didn't know which direction we were supposed to go in order to get back to the specific bus station we needed to get to in order to take a bus back the cruise ship. We tried walking around to retrace our steps but we just went further away from where we needed to go, and on top of that, we had no service on out phones in order to use a GPS. A few minutes later we decided to ask someone for directions as we walked around since we only had 15 minutes to arrive back at the bus stop. We asked a lady but she didn't really seem to understand where we were trying to go. I don't think she understood that we had to get to the bus stop specially near the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, and so we said thank you and then continued to try to figure out where to go. We found library as we walked and asked the security guard if he knew or had an idea of where to go in order to arrive back at the bus stop and he gave us the directions where to go and we made it to the bus stop we needed to be at with roughly 2 minutes to spare; It was pretty embarrassing how long it took us to find the bus stop when in reality we were not even that far from it to begin with. So we basically were walking in circles.

Personally, if I was a teacher I believe that assignments that would help students greatly, would be assignments that focus on deeply understanding and analyzing the book or passage we would be reading in class. From my experience I am an auditory learner but I also learn better when I read and write down information that I need to remember or memorize. I think that a fun and engaging assignment or project that would make the class more fun for the students and motivate them to want to learn, would be if we write a book report about the book we were assigned to read and then present those book reports with the rest of the class while also using discussion questions in order to put various ideas together. A skill I would like to learn would to better my ability to properly interoperate information I read or hear I firmly believe that a characteristic of a perfect classroom would be to include and assign assignments that would be related to the material that would be covered in class time and that would allow students to better understand what we would be reading and writing in the duration of class time.
