My name is Madison and I've been interested in art from a young age. I’m located in Woodbridge, VA. I attended my high school enrolled in the Visual Art program all four years. While in that I took numerous art courses where I learned how to use a range of mediums, however, my last two years I primarily focused on three-dimensional sculptures and ceramics. I took AP 3D Art my senior year and my exam projects focused on the harm society causes to wildlife through pollution. I also took a couple of art classes at James Madison University in 2020-2021.

My name is Madison Mitchell. Throughout this course I used these assignments to further my understanding of artist techniques and push my boundaries to create something new to me. I experimented with line and color in my projects. In my Marks and Lines piece, I explored the use of repetition in the squares while still maintaining variety in line and weight. In my color mixing wheel, I got to explore hue manipulation and the relationship color has with one another. Using that knowledge I then created a group series in a medium I was unfamiliar with, collages. I made something fun and cohesive with individuality among each piece. A series that is bright, colorful, and keeps the eye flowing. Each one contained the signature goofy hat as a large focal point repeated throughout. The series is youthful and playful, using only Disney characters that fit within the color themes. This class provided me as an artist with a better understanding of line, value, and color.
