Person 1: Why bother viewing literature through the New Historicist perspective? Why should we still use it to analyze literature?

It shows that how the writing was influenced by the time period it was written in. It gives readers an insight of the culture/norms that were placed during the time period the book was written in. We should still use it to analyze literature because it allows us to be socially aware of the culture back then. We could use that knowledge and apply it in our daily lives.
