I am looking forward to continue  this project together with you and our students! Helen was my wonderful guide in September 2016 while I was on a LOTUS2 visit in Chengdu. The collaboration with the prestigious Sichuan University in Chengdu was initiated by my esteemed colleague Prof. Dr. Feng Duan.
Together with Andreas Hedberg from the Uppsala University we wrote an article about the outcomes of the collaboration last year. This article will appear in July 2020.
Uppsala University appointed me as honorary doctor for a.o. my work with this collaboration project and Uppsala will join us next year again!
During the second term Y. Wu (May) will be the new assistant of Petra Broomans.

Besides traveling, I love reading books. Another passion is dancing and teaching tango argentino.

My name is Brent and I live in a little town called ‘’Winschoten’’ which is located in the north-eastern part of the Netherlands (near the German border). I’m currently in my third year of European Languages and Cultures at the university of Groningen. My programme consists of several courses such as Swedish, German and Politics & Society. In my spare time, I spend time with my friends, read, listen to music or work out. Traveling is also an important part of my life, which unfortunately isn’t possible due to the corona-pandemic.

When it comes to literature, I’m particularly interested in literature related to politics. This might not entirely come as a surprise since I’m following the politics and society track. Moreover, I am interested in migrant literature, especially because it sheds new light on topics (such as identity or about the new homeland) that is not seen by natives.

I expect this course to broaden my horizon when it comes to intercultural communication and to discover different kind of views related to the literature during this course.

I also love doing judo, very helpful when you fall of a horse ;) Nowadays I mostly keep myself busy with hiking and reading books. I hope that this course helps me discover new genres that I also would enjoy reading, but for now I would say that I’m mainly interested in Scandinavian literature. Besides Swedish, I am currently learning Portuguese, and in the past I've also studied French, Dutch and Japanese. Of course, literature is also a big part of my life, and I like reading a little bit of everything. Some of my all-time favorite books are Les Misérables, The Secret History, The Raven Cycle and the Percy Jackson series (and you might be able to tell that they're all from very different genres!). Recently, I've started getting into science fiction, since I'm writing my Bachelor's thesis about science fiction author Alice Sheldon (better known as James Tiptree, Jr.)

My name is Marije, 25 years old and I am a student at the University of Groningen. I am in my last year of my bachelor and am majoring in Swedish and Literature. In my free time I like sports, reading, seeing friends, discovering new music and going to concerts (and if my budget allows it travel a lot). Next academic year I will sort of have a gap year where I'll be doing some extra credits at the university and at the same time will be getting my diploma to become a personal trainer, hopefully. After that gap year I hope to be admitted to the university of Lund for the research master in Literature, Culture and Media in Scandinavian Languages. It's quite the strange combination to study literature andsports study the same time, but both are my passions and I'd like to have career options in both fields! 

My main interest in the field of literature is Old Norse literature (The Poetic Edda and Icelandic Sagas for example). Currently I am writing my thesis on the role of women during the Viking Age. My favorite poem is the Hávamál. It's an Old Norse poem written down a long time ago, presenting advice for living, proper conduct and wisdom. However old the poem may be, it's still very much applicable today (An example: Don't worry at night, you'll be tired in the morning and nothing will have changed). I love that this poem is from centuries ago whereas the content never really gets old.

I am excited to be working with everyone on this project, I have never done a project like this before and hope to learn a lot from it, same as hopefully discovering new, interesting literature I don't know yet!
