-Beautiful young woman, whom Hamlet is in love with.
-Her father's death negatively impacts her view on men(as well as Claudis and Gertrude).
-Is used by her father to spy on Hamlet.
-She has no mind of her own and relies heavily on the male figures that around her to make decisions for her and almost command her to how to behave/act.(1.3._)
-Very easily persuaded by her father and brother that Hamlet's love for her is not geniuine, and she should stop talking to him.(1.3._)
- Hamlet's odd behaviour when he comes into her room with his pants unbuttoned and touches her face and leaves frightens her so much that she runs to her father for his opinion on what she should do, how she should react to it.(2.1._)
-Once her father dies, and Hamlet leaves her she completely loses her mind, and becomes crazy. Her madness emphasizes her inability to make decisions for herself teror know how to behave, since no one is there to give her directions on how to act.
-After she goes crazy, she runs around the palace singing songs about death and men.(4.4or5)
-She falls in the brook as she is making wreaths and does not try to call for help or swim out of the brook. This shows again that she c
annot make decisions for herself.(4.7._)
