As an educator I must acknowledge that my beliefs influence how I teach, what I teach, and how I relate to others

My beliefs about a student’s ability influences how I treat them, and this treatment can lead to the way a students performs.

My expectations may clash with a students' culture which can ultimately lead to misunderstanding and ineffective discipline.

As an educator, I must look beyond knowledge to understand which personal beliefs are influencing my actions

It is important to reflect on my beliefs as an educator to ensure I do not have any blind spots in my teaching practices, curriculum and treatment of students.

During my time as a teacher, I’ve previously reflected on how my schooling has shaped my beliefs about children’s education, as well as how my field experience has shaped my beliefs. 

My education and experience in the field directly impact how I create my lesson plans for my classroom, but it also impacts the way I interact with my students.
