A Cuban officer orders an examination of everyone on the ship. Josef's father is extremely nervous and thinks this will be a 🤬 roundup like at Dachau. Josef is worried that his father's condition will lead to them being denied entry into Havana. During the examination, Josef's father draws attention due to his nerves, so Josef slaps him across the face so he'll stop. He does, and the Cuban officer looks over him without a thought. However, it is then announced that they will only be able to leave the ship "tomorrow."
