Another one that was surprising was on the morning of December 7, 1941 there was hundreds of Japanese fighter plane attack the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu in Hawaii. My last shocking one that shocked me was in Utah is known for having some of the best skiing in the country, and the mountains near Salt Lake City have and average of 500 inches of snow per year.

One surprising piece of information was that Orlando, Florida is the most popular amusement park destination in the United States. It says a bunch of interesting things like this in the "explain, Just What Does Your State Do Best."I think this is interesting because I knew it was a great amusement park to go to but I didn't know that it was like the most popular in the US. One shocking piece of information to me was that in New Orleans there is a bug museum and they serve bug food. You can find this in the Travel Channel. This is interesting because not a lot of people eat insects.

Some things that I found surprising were that Illinois has the highest rate of gang membership in the country, Oklahoma has more man-made lakes than any other state, and Arkansas accounts for approximately 46% of U.S. rice production. Some information I was shocked by was that California has over 6,000 ufo sightings a year, not only does Arizona's landscape look coppery, but they also make 750 THOUSAND TONS of copper a year, and North Carolina makes 40% of the annual US production of sweet potatoes!
