In the experiment, they gathered two groups of undergraduate students at an American university. They then assigned them to one of two groups. They asked about 70 students to imagine that were having only 30 days left before they had to moving away. In the second group (control group) they put about 69 students together and told them to write about their activities over the same time period. At the end of the period, as well as for the two weeks afterward, they made every student fill out the exact same survey.
