Geometry has 4 main goals for students to learn and understand. Shapes and properties is the 1st academic goal. "Shapes" are defined as a closed figure with a defined boundary. "Properties" define characteristics of the shape such as sides and vertices. This anchor chart is helpful for this topic because it has shape names, definitions, and visuals.

Transformations are the 2nd academic goal. In simple terms, transformation means to change. This website is a great resource because it has definitions, visual examples, and activities for all grades.

Location is the 3rd academic goal. Location in geometry is defined as describing direction or a pair of coordinates relative to an object, like the fruit in the worksheet. This is a fun activity as an introduction to how to find an ordered pair (or coordinates) using the fruit.

Visualization is the 4th academic goal. Visualization is defined as creating a visual representation of geometric shapes. Students can imagine shapes, use digital tools, and have 3D models to study visualization. This website is a great resource for kindergarten and elementary grades. It shows how to use popsicle sticks to create shapes, legos, magnets, tangrams, geoboards, and many more.

This resource is a song about 3D shapes and what can look like in everyday objects we use. This is a great introduction to the types of shapes. A leading question from this video would be, what is the difference between 2D and 3D shapes?
