         <description><![CDATA[<div>The orange outline shows the old boundary lines of where the border of Austria- Hungary was. The grey lines show the current borders of all of the new nations that make up that territory.&nbsp;<br>After WWl ended the Western powers signed separate peace treaties in 1919 and 1920 with each of the defeated nations. These treaties led to huge land losses for the Central powers. Several new countries were created out of the Austro- Hungarian Empire; Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. &nbsp;As well as many other countries in the years to come. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Austrian-Hungarian political system before the war consisted of being a dual monarchy. This meant there are two separate kingdoms and own different positions in each kingdom. Before, during, and after the war Franz Josef was crowned emperor of Austria and Hungary with a way of ruling through constitutional monarchy. During the first world war Austria-Hungary made several state of emergency with several overseen laws. Their well defined social distinctions of citizens, farmers, and serfs. </strong></div><div><strong>Austria is a federal republic based on parliamentary democracy. Its constitution was adopted in 1920. The federal government has a legislative, executive and judicial branch. Bundesversammlung was the Bicameral legislature. Austrian federal president is elected by the people. From 1945 to 1986, two political parties, the Social Democratic Party of Austria and the Austrian People’s party worked together in democratic governance of Austria. Traditional alliances broke down, austria by constitutional law declared permanent neutrality. That prohibited them from entering military alliances and cannot make a military base on Australian soil. Women don’t serve in the military and police are secret service division. <br></strong><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Austro-Hungarian Empire economy increased in output by 5% per year during prewar years. This was among the highest in Europe. More than 60% of the people were employed in agriculture while only 18% in industry. However The Empire still had the 4th biggest machine building industry in the world. Austro-Hungarian had a gross national product per capital at 1.76% while Germany was&nbsp; 1.51% and the rest of the nations under that. Much of the economic profit came through agriculture between selling goods to people and trading them with other nations. </div>]]></description>

After the war there was hunger, cold, and health epidemics in the cities. Many Germans found themselves newly created countries. Many national minorities found themselves in bad situations with the Government due to the change in Austro-Hungary's boarder.</div>]]></description>

The nation lost most of their agriculture taking away most of the nation's food and income of selling the food. The cost of tobacco increased in price while consumption shot up after the war. Several taxes on goods were introduced and tax votes were raised again in 1917 and 1918. </div>]]></description>
