At this point in the century, Europe was incredibly dependent on trade from other states, continents and regions. The Mediterranean Sea was the gateway Europe needed to continue their economy. Specifically, the higher classes of European society craved tea from China and salt from Timbuktu.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
